Pancreatitis ( pancreas inflammation )
An inflammation of the organ, lying behind the lower part of the stomach (pancreas)
Pancreatitis may start suddenly and remain for days, or it can occur over many years. It has many causes, including gallstones and chronic, heavy alcohol use

Symptoms include upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
People may also experience:
Pain areas: in the abdomen or back
Pain types: can be sudden in the abdomen
Gastrointestinal: bloating, fat in stool, indigestion, nausea, or vomiting
Whole body: loss of appetite or sweating
Also common: fast heart rate or weight loss



Treatment consists of diet modifications and fluids
Treatment usually requires hospitalization. Once they stabilize the patient, doctors treat the underlying cause
